Opposition members of parliament today (30 August) boycotted a meeting of the parliamentary standing committee reviewing the National Human Rights Commission Bill, 2026, accusing the government of rushing the legislation and weakening the proposed commission's powers. Legal experts and rights organisations, including Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST), have also raised concerns over several provisions, they said.

সরকারি-বেসরকারি অংশীদারিত্বে কমবে মামলার জট : আইনমন্ত্রী মামলার জট নিরসনে বিকল্প বিরোধ নিষ্পত্তি (এডিআর) ব্যবস্থাকে আরও শক্তিশালী করতে সরকার কাজ করছে। এ লক্ষ্যে সরকারি উদ্যোগের পাশাপাশি দীর্ঘদিন ধরে আইনি সহায়তা ও মধ্যস্থতা কার্যক্রম পরিচালনাকারী বেসরকারি প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোর সঙ্গে অংশীদারিত্ব গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে। এর ফলে আদালতে নতুন মামলা দায়েরের প্রবণতা কমবে এবং বিচারপ্রার্থীরা দ্রুত ও কার্যকর সেবা পাবেন বলে জানিয়েছেন আইন, বিচার ও সংসদ বিষয়ক মন্ত্রী মো. আসাদুজ্জামান।
